Despite not being a surfer, mid-century mainstream photographer Leigh Wiener coaxed poetry from the sport’s golden years. In TSJ 31.2’s “Stranger in a Strange Sea,” author Jon Cohen and Wiener’s son, Devik, comb through the late photographer’s archive of more than 400,000 images.
